For Big Islanders, Oahu is a great place for a weekend getaway, especially when you take advantage of Kama’aina hotel rates. We just recently returned from a weekend there where we caught Cirque du Soleil’s Alegria—What a fantastic show. While we were there the Hawaii International Film Festival was on, and we were able to get tickets to The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest—the third film in the trilogy based on the popular Stieg Larsson books. Having seen the first two films, we were glad to see the third so soon, and not wait months for it’s release.
No trip to Oahu would be complete without some shopping, a few good dinners, a great drive to the North Shore, and lunch at the Turtle Bay Resort. A perfect getaway weekend, and we were were glad to get back to the peace and open space of the Big Island.
My wife and I caught the Cirque de Soleil show last week. It was incredible. The performers were amazing, and the live music was awesome. I’m really glad we went.
