Maui Foreclosures, REOs, and Short Sale Statistics
Statistics about Maui foreclosures, REOs (bank-owned properties), and short sales can be hard to find. Here’s a great post by Tom Tezak, R(S) who specializes in the resort communities of Wailea and Makena on Maui:
Maui Real Estate REOs vs. Short Sales
The stats at the bottom of the article really tell the story about the availability and reality of purchasing an REO as compared to a Short Sale on Maui. There’s also a great link to current foreclosure offerings on Maui. We receive an extraordinary number of inquiries from prospective buyers who are looking for foreclosure sales in Hawaii, and we’re committed to providing the best information possible. Tom Tezak, R(S) also maintains a great website that shows current REO and foreclosure sales on Maui: MauiRealEstateForeclosures.com

Great video! and interesting statistics. Similar to what’s happened on Kauai this past year. However, many of the short sales “gone wrong” that I’ve seen on Kauai have a lot to do with how they are priced, how the offer is submitted, and how the negotations are handled. I believe we’ll see an increase in success as more agents invest in specialized training, like CDPE, and with the legal changes that now allow us as agents to negotiate on behalf of homeowners with their lenders.

That’s a great point Susanna. Is there a CDPE network? It’d be great if we could find someone with that skill set here on Maui. Just a quick search on the internet shows how many people are looking at Maui Short Sales. And, the need for short sale specialists isn’t going to go away anytime soon. Any ideas?
